Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of events do you cater? We cater all sorts of events! For questions about your specific event please contact us via email at email@example.com. How do I place an order? All catering requests should be submitted via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. When do I have to give you my final count/ choices? Final orders must me placed seven days in advance to ensure product being in stock. For weddings, we prefer all menu selections be made at least two weeks in advance. Do you offer event planning services? We work closely with all of our clients to provide exceptional food service for their event. We're happy to answer any questions and to make suggestions regarding event details. However, we are unable to offer full event planning services at this time. What is your cancelation policy? We offer free cancelation up to seven days before your event. All catering orders that are canceled the week of the event are subject to a 50% cancelation fee. What are your payment options? We will send you an invoice with the option to pay online. We accept the following payment methods: cash, check, ApplePay, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, JCB, or UnionPay. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept payment over the phone. Payment may be made in increments as long as total payment is received by the deadline. When is payment due? For weddings and large catering events (50+ persons), we require a non-refundable 10% deposit two weeks in advance. The remaining balance is due three days prior to the event. For convenience, most clients choose to pay all at once. For smaller catering orders such as boxed lunches or corporate luncheons, we require full payment at least three days in advance. Do you offer Gluten Free/ Vegan options? Absolutely! Our staff is very knowledgeable about special diets and restrictions. We regularly stock gluten free and vegan items in our cafe. We have many gluten free and vegan options on our full catering menu and can customize most of our menu items to suit your needs. Be sure to let us know when you place your final order of any food allergies or dietary restrictions, we will do our best to accommodate. Where do you deliver? How much does it cost? We offer free delivery within Norfolk Botanical Garden. Please provide us with a delivery site and time at least three days in advance to ensure the timely delivery of your order. For delivery outside Norfolk Botanical Garden, please contact us at email@example.com. My organization is tax-exempt, will we have to pay tax on our order? A tax rate of 12.5% is applied to all catering orders unless your organization is tax-exempt. Please refer to your tax exemption paperwork for specific information on what is covered under your exemption status. The client is responsible for determining if their order qualifies as tax-exempt. We will require a copy of your tax exemption paperwork before we can process payment. Do you offer wedding tastings? Yes we do! Wedding tastings are a great way to narrow down your menu and try different pairings. Our wedding tastings cost $15 per person. You are allowed to choose any five items off of our catering menu, plus one beverage and one dessert. Each person at the tasting may choose their own beverage, but we can only prepare five menu items and one dessert per tasting. A la cart/ Buffet only (complimentary): table arrangement for lunch trays, hors d' oeuvres, or cocktail fare. Buffet set-up included in hot buffet orders, all serving utensils provided.
Table set-up (optional, flat fee): includes arranging guest seating area (tables and chairs); dressing tables w/ tablecloths, runners, chair sashes, etc. Does not include centerpieces or decorations.
Table Service (optional, % of food & beverage): includes table-side meal service.
Where do I rent linens, dinnerware, etc? We have a limited supply of linens and dinnerware available to rent for a fee, for weddings and more elaborate events we recommend renting all items through distinctiveeventrentals.com.
